A preview of Sunvoy's 3G tool

With the 3G mobile network phaseout beginning at the end of February, a free tool has been developed to help solar installers target projects in need of an upgrade.

Inverters connected to the 3G network will stop communicating when mobile carriers make room for 5G, directly impacting remote monitoring of solar systems.

3G networks will shut down by the end of February for AT&T, March 31 for Sprint, July 1 for T-Mobile, and Dec. 31 for Verizon.

Sunvoy's 3G tool integrates with SolarEdge and Enphase to instantly identify projects on a map that will be impacted by the phaseout. The tool is free and available nationwide.

Sunvoy is working to incorporate additional inverter brands into the program, the company said.
