Italy-based solar PV inverter manufacturer Fimer has a new owner, advanced engineering and technology solutions company McLaren Applied Group. Supporting the latter’s subsidiary MA Solar Italy Limited in the bid was Greybull Capital.
The country’s Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) authorized MA Solar’s acquisition of Fimer’s business complex after evaluating all binding offers submitted by potential investors for the latter’s business assets.
MA Solar’s ‘robust business plan’ helped it nail the process. Fimer says it outlines a clear strategy for sustainable growth, development and innovation of its core business, ensuring the long-term development of its operations and workforce. The engineering capabilities of McLaren Group also complement Fimer’s technology business, thereby opening opportunities for further market expansion.
McLaren group produces silicon carbide inverters for hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) industry, among other products.
“This acquisition provides an important turning point for FIMER, enabling the Company to complete its restructuring process, support the plan for the continuity of the business and allow it to expand its activities,” added the Italian inverter company.
Fimer was declared insolvent in October 2023 and placed under Extraordinary Administration. In July 2024, it invited expressions of interest to sell its entire business
