GLOBAL SOLAR ALLIANCE established
|
On May 15, 2012, Mr. Rhone A. Resch, President & CEO of Solar Energy Industries Association, announced the establishment of GLOBAL SOLAR ALLIANCE at the press conference.
The aim of the ALLIANCE is to create a global network of trade events and technical-scientic conferences for facilitating the worldwide development of the solar industry and markets, while spreading awareness, information and advocacy among the professional community, the public opinion and the political decision makers. The ALLIANCE also strives to establish an effective dialogue platform among the international solar industry and make every effort to level the playing ?eld for solar markets at both global and regional scale. Meanwhile, the ALLIANCE aspires to act as a catalyst for the development of new and emerging markets for solar technologies.
At the conference, the Shanghai Consensus of Global PV Industry was reached. According to it, under the joint efforts of the global PV industry, solar power has made ??remarkable achievements. And with the declining cost of power generation, solar grid parity is a dream able to be reached. Outstanding PV companies shined at Top 10 Highlights stage
|
On the evening of May 16, Kerry Hotel filled its third floor with bright lights and global friends. The “most up-to-date, bright, advanced, and vivid products” of the 6th SNEC Expo were presented as the Top 10 Highlights.
Due to the large number of exhibiting products, SNEC tried to screen the best of them out of the excellent through this Top 10 Highlights activity, which also encouraged exhibitors to present their unique technologies at the exhibition. Based on a voluntary applying rule, more than 130 products have been recommended this year. After one month selection on the standard of the most up-to-date, bright, advanced, and vivid,30 products from 30 companies finally stood out and were rewarded with three prizes, which are TeraWatt Diamond Award, GigaWatt Gold Award, and MegaWatt Honor Award.
The most up-to-date PLUTO solar cell technology brought by Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. gained a unanimous recognition from the voting committee and won the TeraWatt Diamond Award. Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited carried on last year’s highlight by bringing 2014 FIFA World Cup to the exhibition site. And its social influence could hardly be ignored.
As we know, there is no perfect contest to make everyone satisfied, and this activity is no exception. The organizing committee is making efforts to deliver a more scientific, accurate, and fair activity through deeper research and more sufficient preparation. And it is hoped that likewise activities next year will gain more popularity.
