18th Global Green Energy Leaders Dialogue

Date:  Tuesday, 10 June 2025

Room: Grand Ballroom, InterContinental Shanghai Hongqiao

Time:  13:45-17:30

To achieve the goals of carbon-peak by 2030 and carbon-neutral by 2060, renewable energy will become the main source of energy consumption during the 14th Five Year Plan period. The development of new industries and formats such as photovoltaic+energy storage, photovoltaic direct supply, and photovoltaic hydrogen production will also become more mature. Today, countries around the world are striving to promote the arrival of a green energy era characterized by efficiency, cleanliness, low-carbon, and intelligence. Energy conservation and emission reduction, as well as achieving sustainable green development, are important goals that many countries are actively exploring.

In order to promote the global impact and development of the green energy industry, the Global Green Energy Industry Council (GGEIC), Global Solar Council (GSC), and Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA) are leading and inviting industry leaders, CEOs of mainstream companies in the industry, authoritative experts in academia, market analysis institutions, financial institutions, media representatives, and the general public to gather together to discuss the future of green energy under the dual carbon goal and the opportunities and challenges faced by the photovoltaic industry, as well as the exchange and cooperation of solar energy, hydrogen energy, and energy storage in energy comprehensive utilization, in order to achieve win-win development.

  2. The cooperation and contribution of the photovoltaic industry in global sustainable development, and how to better participate in international cooperation and emerging market exploration by going abroad? What are the successful cases and experiences of China's renewable energy development experience in promoting it globally?
  3. How can the photovoltaic industry collaborate and integrate with other new energy sources (such as wind+solar hydrogen storage, and electric vehicles)? In the process of development, should we focus on the photovoltaic industry itself? Or empower other fields?
  4. The role of AI+energy and energy digitization in energy transformation

Mr. Qinghua Dai, Director of Board, Sany Group; Chairman, Sany Photovoltaic Technology Company

Mr. Yong Liu, Chairman, DAS Solar Co., Ltd.

Ms. Yafang Liu, Professor at Zhejiang University, Former Deputy Director of Department of Energy Conservation and Technology Equipment, National Energy Administration

15:20-16:10

1. How can we avoid the mismatch of upstream and downstream production capacity caused by technological iteration from the manufacturing end to the application end? How can testing and certification institutions establish a standardized system to reduce collaborative costs?

2. The "manufacturing localization " policies in Europe and the United States pose challenges to Chinese new energy enterprises. How can enterprises balance the expansion of overseas markets and technological autonomy and controllability? In the process of international layout, how to deal with geopolitical risks and the demand for supply chain resilience?

3. Currently, the profitability of energy storage relies on subsidies and the price difference between peak and off-peak hours, but the imperfect trading mechanism in the power market restricts its large-scale application. How can the power grid side, power generation side and user side work together to promote business model innovation? What supporting tools do policymakers need to accelerate the release of energy storage value?

The Chinese solar PV industry has invested in economies of scale in production which has brought down the cost per Watt of modules by over 90%. This has allowed the global energy transition to proceed at the speed and scale required to meet the global climate challenge of 1.5C, and has saved 50 million tonnes of carbon dioxide since the beginnings of the solar industry. There are now 5million people employed in solar around the world - most of them in the installation of solar, downstream in the value chain. And yet, solar is a deeply political and strategic technology, with many challenges facing us. This dialogue seeks to identify the challenges in different markets around the world and discuss the future scenarios for the whole industry.
